I recently retired form teaching art to pursue my second act of creating art.

To maintain the highest quality in my work, I personally perform all the creative aspects of my art. My mirror frames, furniture, framing and lazy Susan are all birch built professionally, to ensure the greatest quality in every piece of furniture. I have often been described as a funky contemporary artist. I would define my work as alive with color and textures. I have heard that good artwork doesn't have to match your couch…. I agree, in this case it may be the couch, table, mirror or lazy-Susan. It is a form of synectic art, combining unexpected elements to create unusual pieces.
In my case, I am combining art with function. It might be as simple as seeing a mirror frame as a piece of artwork. The tremendous benefit is that my furniture pieces combine both function and asethics. So there's a bit of surprise in seeing the combinations of colors, textures with furniture. Great artwork commands it's own space and will make a room come alive. Creating artwork has been tremendous joy to me. I hope that each unique piece will bring enjoyment and complete that special space. Buying original artwork can create great satisfaction and appreciation for talent and creativity.
